Acclaimed Chinese musicians attended the ceremony Sunday night in Beijing launching the fourth campaign for music for the 2008 Olympics.
Those who have shown interest in making contributions include long-time Hong Kong superstar Andy Lau, Taiwan love song sensation Jeff Zhang, and the new star from the Chinese mainland Zhou Bichang, who rose to popularity from the 2005 Super Girl singing competition.
Andy Lau proposed adopting English songs to reach a wider audience.
Seven kinds of musical works will be selected for the Beijing Olympics and Paralympics from global submissions. The final results are slated to be announced 100 days before the Games.
