Spring Festival Gala Team Invites Hot Actors For 2007

The team directing the 2007 CCTV Spring Festival Gala has invited hot entertainers Andy Lau, Jay Chou and Nicholas Tse to perform at the event in February.

Huash.com reports that the invitations were issued because a national survey earlier discovered the three heartthrobs were the favorite stars in 2006.

All three stars have had an eventful year.

Andy Lau will wrap up a prolific year with his latest martial-arts film, "A Battle of Wits." Pop king Jay Chou made the headlines when he starred in Zhang Yimou’s "Curse of the Golden Flower," the Chinese Mainland’s candidate for the Best Foreign Film Competition at the Oscars. Hong Kong actor/singer Nicholas Tse also gained the spotlight for his performance in Chen Kaige’s "The Promise" and his marriage to fellow actress Cecilia Cheung.

The website reports the three actors already have full schedules, but CCTV is doing its utmost to bring them on board. If successful, the trio are likely to appear on the gala stage in the costumes they wore for their movies.

The 2007 CCTV Spring Festival Gala will be aired across the nation on February 17, Chinese New Year’s Eve. Watching the 4-hour show is a New Year’s tradition for many Chinese people.
