Recently I develop a habit to cook soup with mushrooms. I love the scent of it once it blends well with the soup. Though it won’t taste any better after cooking it on soup, but it certainly makes the soup taste nice.
As much as I love it, I am curious if mushroom itself poses any health benefit. Well, I have this attitude of wanting to know more of what I am eating and, well, if it does bring good health then I would take it more. Else, I try to avoid taking it.
There are different types of mushroom available in the market and I believe each have its’ own scientific name by itself. To name a few, Agaricus bisporus, shiitake, maitake or hen-of-the-woods, oyster, and enoki. There are even those which are poisonous mushroom and taking those will eventually lead to fatal.
A gathered information across the web shown that, consuming mushroom do contains its’ benefitials to health and here listed are some of it:
1) Bring downs the cholesterol level.
2) Prevents breast cancer and prostate cancer due to it’s Beta-Glucans and conjugated Linoleic Acid having anti carcinogenic effects and Selenium.
3) Food for thought for Diabetics as it has natural insulin and enzymes that breaks down sugar intake.
4) Improves immunity with its’ Ergothioneine and vitamins A, B-Complex and C presence.
I dont know how accurate those information are but if it does, it’s sure adds on to “health supplement”.
